13. English for very young students

      § Mediglia si trova nell’hinterland Milanese, in un territorio per lo più agricolo e dove a causa di scarso lavoro è diffuso il fenomeno del pendolarismo. La scuola si pone, pertanto,come punto di riferimento ed anche risorsa per la diffusione delle lingue straniere, il cui studio viene avviato fin dall’infanzia. Progetti Comenius e collaborazioni con scuole del Liechtenstein, della Germania, del Portogallo, della Scozia  sostengono questa volontà di far scoprire ai bambini altri modi di esprimersi e di farli accostare alla conoscenza, seppure iniziale, di una lingua che continueranno ad approfondire fino alla scuola media; tutto sempre in modo semplice e divertente. Sarebbe veramente divertente anche per noi, assistere al momento in cui la maestra tira fuori dal cappello, ogni giorno,  non un coniglio ma un pupazzo o un peluche legato alla storia che si intende raccontare: “il cappello magico” che se indossato aiuta a parlare inglese. Il progetto si sviluppa sotto forma di laboratorio dove dall’ascolto si passa all’esecuzione di canti o filastrocche e alla costruzione di semplici libri, con l’uso di differenti tecniche grafico- pittoriche.

§   The Mediglia School is in the Milan commuter belt, in a mostly rural area. The school is thus a reference point and a resource for the dissemination of foreign languages, with study starting at an early age. The “Comenius” projects and collaboration with schools in Liechtenstein, Germany, Portugal and Scotland sustain this effort to help children discover other ways of expressing themselves and to introduce them, though on the beginner level, to a language that they will continue to study up to the lower secondary school. All of this will be in an easy and enjoyable way. It would also be enjoyable for us to watch the every day moment when the teacher pulls not a rabbit from her hat, but rather a puppet or toy related to the story she wants to tell: “The Magic Hat” that helps children speak English. The project is developed as a lab where after listening, the children sing songs and rhymes, and then create simple books, with the use of different drawing and painting techniques

§        „Mediglia" liegt im Hinterland von Mailand, in einem eher landwirtschaftlich geprägten, vorwiegend durch das Pendlerwesen gekennzeichneten Gebiet. Die Schule ist daher ein Referenzpunkt und auch eine Ressource für die Verbreitung der Fremdsprachen, die schon von der Kindheit an unterrichtet werden. Die Projekte „Comenius" und die Zusammenarbeit mit Schulen aus Liechtenstein, Deutschland, Portugal und Schottland unterstützen den Wunsch, dass die Kinder andere Ausdrucksformen erlernen und der, wenn auch anfänglichen, Kenntnis einer Sprache näher gebracht werden, die sie dann bis zum Eintritt in die Mittelschule weiter vertiefen sollen; Diese Kenntnisse werden den Kinder auf einfache Weise, gleichsam im Spiel vermittelt. Es wäre auch für uns amüsant, die Lehrerin zu beobachten, wie sie aus dem Hut nicht einen Hasen, sondern eine Puppe oder ein Stofftier herauszieht, das an die Geschichte gebunden ist, die erzählt werden soll: „Der magische Hut“, der, wenn er aufgesetzt wird, hilft, die englische Sprache zu sprechen. Das Projekt läuft in Form eines Labors, wo vom Anhören zur Ausführung von Gesängen oder Kinderreimen und zur Erarbeitung einfacher Bücher unter Verwendung verschiedener graphisch-malerischer Techniken übergegangen wird.

§         Mediglia se halla en los alrededores de Milán, en un territorio predominantemente agrícola, en el que el fenómeno del pendularismo es muy corriente. Por lo tanto, la escuela constituye un punto de referencia y también un recurso para divulgar los idiomas extranjeros, cuyo estudio inicia desde la infancia. Proyectos "Comenius" y colaboraciones con escuelas de Liechtenstein, Alemania, Portugal y Escocia apoyan esta voluntad de hacer que los niños descubran otras formas de expresión y que empiecen a conocer, aunque sólo sea a nivel inicial, un idioma que seguirán estudiando hasta el segundo ciclo de enseñanza obligatoria. Todo ello, de forma sencilla y divertida. Sería realmente divertido, incluso para nosotros, presenciar el momento en que la maestra se saca de la chistera todos los días, no ya un conejo, sino un muñeco o un peluche relacionado con la historia que se va a contar: “el sombrero mágico” que, cuando se lleva, ayuda a hablar en inglés. El proyecto se desarrolla en forma de laboratorio, donde se empieza escuchando y luego se pasa a cantar canciones y estribillos y a construir libros sencillos, empleando distintas técnicas gráficas y pictóricas.

     §     Mediglia se trouve dans l'arrière-pays de Milan, territoire principalement agricole où la migration pendulaire est courante. L'école se situe donc comme un point de référence et aussi une ressource pour la diffusion des langues étrangères, dont l'étude commence dès l'enfance. Les projets « Comenius » et des collaborations avec des écoles du Liechtenstein, d'Allemagne, du Portugal, d'Écosse, soutiennent cette volonté de faire découvrir aux enfants d'autres façons de s'exprimer, et de les rapprocher de la connaissance, bien qu'initiale, d'une langue qu'ils continueront à approfondir jusqu'à l'école secondaire ; tout cela toujours de manière simple et distrayante. Ce serait vraiment amusant pour nous aussi d'assister au moment où la maîtresse sort de son chapeau, tous les jours, non pas un lapin, mais un pantin ou un animal en peluche lié à l'histoire qu'elle a l'intention de raconter : « le chapeau magique » qui, si on le porte, aide à parler anglais. Le projet se développe sous la forme d'un atelier où l'on passe de l'écoute à l'exécution de chants ou de comptines et à la construction de livres simples, selon différentes techniques graphiques et picturales.
